Now that you’ve learned the seven principles you need to build a thriving Christian small group without doing everything yourself, what do you do now? What’s next?
The word “disciple” means to be a student of someone or something. It is in our identity as disciples of Jesus that we are devoted to learning and growth. None of us every arrive at perfection, either perfection in our deeds or perfection in our leadership, but we are called to pursue it nonetheless. This book does not contain every secret or every insight you’ll need to successfully lead your small group, just what you need to get 80% of the way there.
Keep learning. Keep trying new things. Experiment with new ideas.
My goal in writing this book was to help you get over the hump, get a fresh start, and set your group up for long-term, sustainable success. As you continue to implement the principles you learned within these pages, I pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to reveal God’s wisdom to you. I love the promise that God gives each of us in the book of James:
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
– James 1:5
Prayer is your greatest weapon as you lead God’s people. Use it. It is through prayer that we are reminded that we are not in this fight alone. God is with you, He is for you, and His dream for your small group goes beyond anything you could possibly imagine. Never stop dreaming for your small group.
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
